Ah Cuba, so much to say. I visited here about 3 years ago but I still remember the strong sense of feeling like I was with my peoples. ⁠

From the beautiful brown skin people speaking spanish ........to the Yoruba museum with altars to all the Orishas .............and to Callejon de Hamel, a celebration of Afro-Cuban Heritage with drums, dance and art, it was clear they knew exactly where they came from and took pride in being of African descent. ⁠

Artuo Schomburg

Have you ever visited the Schomburg Center in Harlem, NY?⁠

Artuo Schomburg dedicated his to procuring, documenting and preserving the artistic, scholarly, intellectual, scientific and technological contributions of Black peoples from around the globe. Cited as the “original Father of Black History,” Schomburg was born and raised in Santurce, Puerto Rico. A multilingual autodidact and bibliographer, Schomburg was a critical intellectual figure in the Harlem Renaissance. His African findings and collections form the basis of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at the New York Public Library branch in Harlem. (BET.com)⁠

The library is temporarily closed now but definitely check it out when it opens as it features a free museum and events with rotating exhibits.
